This was my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe growing up, and it remains the only recipe of any sort that I can make with any degree of success.

1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla

2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of salt

1 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Mix the top 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl
3. Mix next 3 ingredients in a separate mixing bowl
4. Slowly mix contents of second bowl into the first
5. Stir in chocolate chips
6. Drop dough in rounded teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet
7. Bake for 10 minutes or until cookies are light brown
8. Remove from cookie sheet and place on cooling rack

Obviously, I'd never pass a recipe writing class. Feel free to adjust in any way that makes you a more successful cook than I am recipe writer.

Mix them, cook them, and try them with a glass of nice, cold milk. Then tell me how you might change them to add more delicious.
